Beginning game

In Hota 3, a third-person game played on Twitch, both by yourself and against other players, there are a ton of objects with different properties, randomized onto the map. For example, on the standard Jebus Cross map, you need to loot an army at your spawn point within seven days to reach the center, where there are even more powerful objects to strengthen yourself before the final battle with your opponent.

So, it's impossible to collect absolutely everything at your spawn point in seven days. And you don't need to do that; it's important to understand what each object provides—gold, an army, or a hero boost—and whether the object's defense type is strong, average, or weak. And whether it's convenient for you to take it. Below, we'll discuss exactly that:

Standard map

There's a ton of stuff lying around, and it's unclear what to take first, and what to skip altogether?

1) Economy

These are objects for gold and resources, so you can buy a maximum of eight Heroes on Jebus and get a full boost, as well as build a castle and buy an army in it on the 8th day of growth.

2) Hero Stats

Objects that boost the hero: attack, defense, artifacts that increase attack and defense, increase total mana or strengthen spells, boost +400 movement for 1 turn. For example, +1 to attack means your army deals 10% more damage, +1 to defense means your army's armor is 10% higher, etc.

3) Army Objects

For example, on the map, a randomizer scattered two boxes at our respawn point behind airborne units and behind crosses. From them, an army can drop, then gold, magicka, and an artifact, or nothing at all.

Next, near our castle, there's an object that upgrades the army to T2 for gold, then a stable, but it's best to ignore it because of the dragons. In the center, behind the templars, is a Zepha or raider outpost, where, after guarding, you can loot Cyclopes, each spawning 4, 8, or 12 of them. This is a very powerful ranged unit, which will help you loot even more objects when you exit to the center on the 7th day.

And in the top right, there are the standard 14 castle pikemen, unguarded.

4) Object guards

Green - easy, Yellow - medium, and Red - difficult guard. Depending on the difficulty, you will need a corresponding army size, hero stats, and magic.

For example, the crosses with airborne units guarding boxes are medium-difficulty guards, but you get even more army, gold, or magic from the boxes.

And behind the gnolls, the light guard, in the upper right corner, lies a flail, which grants +4 to the hero's attack and stats. Accordingly, it's worth going and attacking, placing chains of heroes there and sending an army along them to defeat the gnolls.

Let's say Minotaurs and Dragons are difficult guards, and you can basically ignore the artifacts they guard. Because Dragons cast terror on the army, and Minotaurs only Morale every other turn, giving them a double turn. And that's without taking into account the high default damage.

There's also easy guard in the crypt and on the imp. The former is worth breaking through; it drops a decent amount of gold, but the imp isn't, because it's very low in gold, and it can be used as a breakout for a hero to buy them back from another castle, for example.

Conclusion:
  • It's impossible to loot everything, and you shouldn't.
  • If you only collect gold with your heroes at respawn, you won't have the army to break through the main guard to reach the center on day 7.
  • If you loot only objects for your army and hero stats, you won't have enough gold to build a castle and buy back your army after the growth in the second week, day 8. This is a Jebus Cross, and on the "Duel" template, for example, building castles is critical.
  • Ideally, you'll breach the guards without losing an army, or loot more from the guarded object than you lost.
  • Getting overwhelmed means attacking dragons or Minotaurs and losing your entire army, including your hero.
